ICE / iGB 2024 recap

For the last time for the foreseeable future, one of the largest iGaming conferences of the year took place in London this month, with ICE and iGB Affiliate 2024 taking over the ExCeL Center in London to house the best and brightest of the iGaming industry!

With ICE and iGB Affiliate set to move over to Barcelona next year, this final one in London was another to remember. Our team was delighted to attend, getting to discuss all matters of iGaming topics with affiliates, operators, and everyone in-between.

With that in mind, we’ve put together the most exciting trends and insights from the event, for anyone who was unable to attend or for anyone looking for a refresher on what took place.

Crypto or not to Crypto?

Crypto remained a hot topic of conversation at ICE and iGB, as it remains a fast rising vertical, though it isn’t without its complications. From educating users to different regulations across the globe, crypto can be a tricky vertical, but one that is constantly being discussed.

When speaking about crypto at the conference, many of the operators we spoke with discussed their excitement for the vertical and how they planned to work on it further. However, affiliates weren’t as bullish, citing the complexity of the vertical, issues with verifying users and other issues facing it today. This marks a bit of a disconnect in the vertical and one that will need to be ironed out for it to continue its ascent in the iGaming world.

The New DFS

A few years back, Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) games were all the rage and looked like one of the more promising verticals in the industry. While still a relevant one, it has cooled off with more large operators including DFS offerings in their sportsbooks, making it more difficult for standalone DFS operators.

With DFS waning a little, the new hot vertical has become Sweepstakes and Social Casinos, with operators and affiliates alike discussing the exciting possibilities within these types of games. They’re still emerging as a viable vertical, but the possibility to educate users without the use of real money has made this a valuable opportunity for brands in the industry.

Emerging Markets

For the last couple of years, LATAM has been seen as the hottest emerging market in iGaming and that didn’t change at this year’s conference. Operators and affiliates were excited about the continued growth seen there, with more gains expected to come over the next couple of years.

On top of LATAM, India, Canada, along with European markets that had local licenses, were talked about at large and constitute big opportunities in the industry.

Affiliate Feedback

iGB Affiliate saw a variety of different affiliates from the iGaming industry make their way to London and their insights are extremely valuable in understanding how to best reach new users.

Affiliates were adamant that more brands should be using server-to-server real-time tracking, similar to the solution offered at Income Access. When affiliates are empowered with this kind of tracking, it allows them to adjust and optimize in real-time, to get the most value possible for operators looking to grow their audience.

Additionally, they pointed out the value of the ACID report, offered by IA, which allows them to gain additional insights into their audience and generate even more clicks for operators.

Key Takeaways

With another exciting conference in the books, we’re already looking forward to the next one taking place shortly in Brazil, with SBC Summit Rio 2024, where you can book a meeting here.

Overall, ICE and iGB Affiliate 2024 were a great success, allowing us to re-connect with all the biggest names in the iGaming industry. We always relish the opportunity to take part in these events and can’t wait to see how the conference grows when it heads to Barcelona in 2025!
