WSOP 2016 Summer Series

By On

Poker’s most popular festival has been underway for over a month, and it is as impressive as ever. The summer series of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) began May 31st and has been host to several different events such as the “Millionaire Maker”, where an elementary school teacher won $500,000! Still to be played are the No-Limit Hold’em events, and the fan favourite “Main Event”, where the world’s best professional players go head to head. So there is still much excitement to come!

Millionaire Maker

The “Millionaire Maker” is one of the more popular events of the series, simply because of the size of the jackpot and the relatively low entry fee of $1,500. Past series have seen an electrical engineer, an aspiring novelist and a student – which enforces their slogan that anyone can enter and anyone can win!Lisa Meredith, a kindergarten teacher and WSOP first-timer, proved this when she won $500,000 in this year’s event by taking third place.

Other upcoming No-Limit Hold’em events are:

WSOP.com Online No-Limit Hold’em - July 8th

The $1,000 WSOP.com Online No-Limit Hold’em will almost entirely be played online, as the event name suggests. This is a great chance for affiliates to work with the WSOP brand and promote this event, as many people will find the event’s online factor convenient, and will feel more tempted to register and play.

Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship - July 8th

The $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship is a great way to get ladies who have a little less tolerance for risk to participate. With event entries discounted to $1,000 for women instead of the standard $10,000, it’s no wonder the ladies love this three day event! In the 2015 series, a 66 year old realtor by the name of Jacqueline Scott won the championship at her very first WSOP event.

The "Main Event" - July 9th

The “Main Event” is the tournament’s highlight event, and the opportunity where players can win the most money. There are three starting days beginning July 9th and play will continue through July 18th. When there are nine players remaining at the final table, the game will be put on hold for three months, until October 30th, where the final table will be played on live TV over the course of three days. Last year’s reigning champion Joe McKeehen won $7,683,346, but this was not this event’s biggest jackpot! In 2006, Jamie Gold, won a whopping $12,000,000, the highest payout this event has ever seen.

WSOP Live Streaming

This year, it will be easy to keep up with all the WSOP excitement because certain events are available for live streaming on the official WSOP website. The live streaming takes place over the course of 40 days, beginning June 2nd and ending July 11th, and there are 33 days of actual live feed. There is a schedule of the anticipated live streaming on the WSOP website. Times of events should fall between 12:30 and 4:30 P.M. Pacific Time, but are subject to change without notice. @WSOP can also be followed on Twitter for start times and to be notified of these changes. On some days, there will be multiple events featured.
