About the Championships
The very first BWF Championships was hosted in Malmö, Sweden in 1977, and was then held every three years until 1983. After this, the event became biennial. This year’s TOTAL BWF Championships 2017 will be taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, and will run for seven thrilling days, from August 21st to 27th in the prestigious Emirates Arena. The preliminary rounds will be held for the first three days of the competition, followed by one day each for the round of 16, the quarter-finals, and the semi-finals.
The much-anticipated final rounds take place on the very last day of the tournament, and will determine the world champions in each of the five disciplines: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
